Album #2

April 11th was a busy day for JSU Jazz!

After performing at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, JSU Jazz Ensemble I and the Latin Ensemble went to Bates Brothers Recording Studio in Hueytown to begin work on their next album. JSU Jazz I recorded "Wyrgly" by Maria Schneider and "Paper Spoons" by Jim McNeely. The Latin Ensemble recorded "Anabis" and "Cold Duck Time." Both groups performed extremely well! The next album is already shaping up nicely!

We will head back to the studio in the fall to record more charts for the next album. Stay tuned for more details!

Fall 2015 Jazz Placement Auditions

Posted by anevala on Comments comments (0)

Auditions for JSU Jazz Ensembles for the 2015 - 2016 school year will be held on Wednesday, August 26th, which is also the first day of class.

The audition music for Jazz Ensemble placement is Soupbone. The music is posted outside of my office door. My office is Room 105-A, on the bottom floor of Mason Hall. Be prepared to play any section of the piece.

For those interested in being in a jazz combo, combo placement is determined by class schedule. Fill out your class schedule on the blank schedules provided (on my door) and bring it to me to be placed in a combo.
